Please Remember

As you continue your journey of finding the best way to educate your children, Please Remember that YOU are the best teacher for them.
You have already taught them so many things: to interact, to sit up, to crawl, to walk, to eat, to share, to express themselves, to talk, and the list goes on. You have been their guide and model. For instance, you have modeled interactions with others, social and emotional skills, how to deal with joy or frustration or quietness and how to live life. You have worked hard, maybe played hard, striven to find balance, and deal with disappointment. You have been their teacher from birth.
Now you are looking to offer them an excellent education. There are many options to choose from. Whether you opt for structure, online, or create your own curriculum, remember that your choices are not final. Try them for a while and find out what works for you and your children. Doesn't match your lifestyle? Great, find or create one that does. You are the best teacher and will find the best way to teach your children.
Many parents say that they could never teach their children as they do not have the patience. OK, find support for the direct teaching of academic skills. But as you do that, please remember you were the child's first teacher and always will be the very best teacher.
Just because someone else may teach them the academics does not let you escape from the very real truth that you really are THE teacher in their lives. Model what you want them to understand. Want them to be kind to others? Model that for them daily. Want them to be problem solvers with persistence? Model that for them. They are watching and listening to you.
Remember to be their teacher that models what is important for them to experience in order to have success in life. Structure your life to be a learner and a guide. Let the world become your teacher and pass that on to your children.
You are their best teacher. You can do this.
